All donations The
New Horizon Singers receive go towards our chosen charity.
Now in it's sixth year, we are continuing our support
of
Somerset Unit
for Radiotherapy Equipment.
The charity's aim
is to raise £600,000 for a simulator in a non-surgical cancer unit at
Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, Somerset.

On behalf of S.U.R.E.,
Mr Eric Saffin is pictured
receiving yet another cheque for £3,000 from
choir
members Bonnie Lane and Jan Payne.
Bringing our total now raised
for S.U.R.E. to £13,000 overall this was a delightful way
to close to the 2006/7

Although we very
much enjoy performing our many concerts each season, The New Horizon
Singers are very keen to continue in their support of local residential care
homes and societies in Taunton and surrounding area who also value our
contributions and donate to our chosen charities.
The beginning of
the 2007/8 season was indeed a very busy one and lists the following
activities:
Eight performances at residential care homes,
Two evening group
performances,
Contemplate for Cancer
(a favourite with choir members), and
Carols in Vivary
Park.
This was in
addition to our very successful Christmas
Concert and all before Christmas! Phew!

season, please visit our Forthcoming

After a well-deserved summer break, The
New Horizon Singers wasted no time in getting the 2006/7 season underway when
we performed A Choral Concert in aid of 'Taunton
Deane Association for Neighbourhood Care' on Friday, 13th October
2006 at St. James' Church, Taunton, Somerset.
This was followed by 'Choirs in Contrast'
on Saturday 28th October 2006 at our usual venue of
St. James' and was very well supported by the puplic with well over 100 in
the audience! Raising £1,074, the evening was a resounding success
and our grateful thanks go to our hosts Taunton Barbershop Chorus
- The Rivertones who covered all the evening's expenses, and
Castle School for their enthusiastic rendering of traditional African
songs.
Our 'Celebration of Christmas' Concert on Wednesday 13th December 2006 did indeed give
us good reason to celebrate, being the highest fundraiser of our Christmas
Concerts -
a staggering
£697!
The New Horizon
Singers were delighted to be able to keep our promise of the previous
season and return to perform another concert at West Monkton
Village Hall on Friday, 5th March 2007.
Supporting
the local branch of S.U.R.E., the evening raised another £367.85.
On 24th March
2007 we joined the Taunton Deane Male Voice Choir once
again performing a concert in aid of Cancer Research UK. This
was then followed on Saturday 14th April in The Albermarle Centre, Taunton
but this time raising funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind. We also
contributed to the Sing Sankey event at Queens College.
Bringing another successful season to a close
the 'New Horizon Singers' Summer Concert' was on 11th July
2007. Joined by the Mayor and Mayoress of Taunton Deane, Councillor
Ken Hayward and his wife Mary plus Eric and Sonja Saffin as well as other
representatives of S.U.R.E., we were absolutely delighted to present yet
another cheque for £3,000 bringing our total donated to date to an amazing
£13,000 overall!
