Welcome to a new term. Some of us have been able to meet a couple of times at the Rumwell Farm café to catch up. We hope that you have had a good break and have been able to find time to learn the music and words for November 3rd which is approaching rapidly.
For those going to the Albert Hall we will start the practice on Thursday 13th September at 7pm. We have a lot of administration to cover regarding Sunday 16th September and the Albert Hall weekend, so are starting earlier on this occasion to avoid wasting precious singing time at 7.30. Please read the email Marianne sent on 7th September. It has important information regarding our trip to Swindon.
The good news is that, as our funds are in a healthy state at the moment, the decision has been made to waive subs for September.
It is understood that prospective new members might be wanting to join us this term. If you are bringing someone along, or know of anyone who might be thinking of coming, please let Pauline know which part they sing so that seating arrangements can be organised. As a choir we want to be welcoming and prepared for new people joining us. Bearing this in mind, please will you remember to wear your name badges.
The website is now up and running www.newhorizonsingers.com. If you haven’t had a look or joined up yet it is quite easy, you simply enter your email address, choose a password and wait a short time to be accepted, after which, you can access the members’ pages. However, there are links to You tube where there are some good recordings of the choir singing a couple of Albert Hall pieces, and these can be seen without signing in. Val is more than happy to help anyone who wants help to access the site.
Congratulations to Julie who became a grandmother to Jesse on 23rd August.
Hilary and Pete McKegney are cycling 75 miles from Minehead to Charmouth, in order to raise money for St Margaret’s Hospice and Bike4Cancer. She will bring a collecting tin to the first 2 rehearsals for those who would like to contribute.
As no choir member raised any objections, the current proceeds (£138.80) from the sales table will be donated to the South Sudan charity.
See you on Thursday.
